We will perform choral masterworks by J.S. Bach and Brahms.
Bach: Cantata #21 (Ich hatte viel Bekümmernis) and Mass in G Minor
Brahms: Motet (Warum ist das Licht gegeben) and Missa Canonica
The complementary settings of the emotions of the texts that the Jameson Singers hope to project in our performance of Bach’s heartfelt Cantata #21, Ich hatte viel Bekümmernis and Brahms’ profoundly beautiful Motet, Warum ist das Licht geben, are at the heart of our concert program. The counterbalance of these highly reflective and moving works is offered in Brahms’ early Missa Canonica and Bach’s festive g minor Missa Brevis (Lutheran Mass).
We will be joined by a select chamber orchestra and four wonderful soloists for the Cantata and Missa Brevis.
Sonja DuToit Tengblad, Soprano
Julia Cavallaro, Mezzo-Soprano
Matthew Anderson, Tenor
Paul Max Tipton, Bass
